I think they should just keep that name.  It seems appropriate.

I’m leaning that way now too. That way, the chant “GO FOOTBALL TEAM” is both generic AND specific at the same time.

Yep, they should have to own this insanity for a good decade or two.

Obviously that should say “Washington”, but clearly their website isn’t up to these complexities.

Could be worse though, in the baseball world we are allegedly in the heart of a playoff race with two weeks left in the season, but aside from MLB, no one even posts accurate wild card standings last time I looked. Either they have none, or they still old, pre-expanded playoff standings, which are incorrect. And even MLB’s standings aren’t live, they are just a report generated nightly.

I’m not following baseball, but I was reading last night about how the NFL chose not to use a bubble, and that baseball had some high infection rates at the beginning. I’m not hearing anything new about this, but have they gotten a handle on it?

Yeah, baseball appears to have things under control now. Their real problems seem to have been that initially players weren’t taking things seriously, and MLB thought they could get away with just isolating people who tested positive. It became clear pretty quickly that that wasn’t going to fly, and they were going to lose the season if they continued that way so they clamped down more and got aggressive about canceling games if there were any positive tests (which leads to some weird ness, the NL central teams have played 48, 47, 44, 44, and 40 games when normally you’d expect them to have all played roughly the same number ) .

I don’t think the bubble would have worked for either MLB or the NFL though, except if they just did full league playoffs . A full season is way too long to keep players away from their families/friends /etc. In any event, the NFL should be encouraged by MLB’s progr ess, though I think the NFL’s task is harder, it’s much easier to isolate players. I’d guess they’ll have problems at some point this season.
